Charlie Woods recently celebrated his high school state championship in golf with The Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Florida, adorned with a gleaming championship ring. The young golfer, son of Tiger Woods and his ex-wife Elin, beamed with pride alongside his teammates, affectionately known as ‘the Bucs’, as they basked in the glory of their success.
During the tournament held at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida, Charlie showcased his skills with rounds of 78 and 76 over two days, contributing to his team’s triumph in the FHSAA Class A boys golf state championship. Despite being the fourth-best player on the five-man squad, Charlie’s performance was commendable as he finished T-26 overall.
What made this victory even more special was the presence of Tiger Woods himself, who enthusiastically cheered on his son throughout the tournament. This milestone marked a difference for Charlie compared to Tiger’s own high school golf experience. While attending Western High School in Anaheim, California, Tiger did not have the opportunity to compete for a state championship, as the California Interscholastic Federation did not organize such events during his time.
Nonetheless, Tiger’s golf prowess shone through in other avenues, including his victories in the CIF’s SoCal Regional in 1991 and his titles as Southern Section medalist in 1991, 1993, and 1994. Notably, Tiger also made history as the youngest golfer to win the US Junior Amateur in 1991.
With Charlie following in his father’s footsteps and making waves in the golfing world at a young age, it’s evident that the Woods family legacy in the sport is in good hands.
