Max Homa Cheers Wife as Newborn Son, Austin, Adds Joy to Family
While the FedEx St. Jude Championship played out in Memphis without the star power of Rory McIlroy, another familiar face was missing from the field — Max Homa. But unlike McIlroy, whose absence was a strategic move for the playoffs, Homa simply wasn’t there because golf wasn’t his top priority. This week, life handed him a far bigger trophy.
On Friday, the six-time PGA Tour winner announced via Instagram that he and his wife, Lacey, had welcomed their second child, a baby boy named Austin Homa. “Austin Homa! 8/4/25. My wife is a rockstar, and Austin is very unsure of Cam (rightfully so). Our hearts are so full 💙,” Homa wrote, sharing a carousel of heartwarming photos — Lacey cradling Austin, their first son Cam peeking curiously at his little brother, and the whole family glowing in the moment.
The couple had first revealed they were expecting back in April, during the Masters, posing in front of Augusta National with a tiny caddie jumpsuit ready for Austin’s future debut. Now, just four months later, those playful plans have turned into reality.
Homa and Lacey’s love story began online in 2013, blossoming into marriage in November 2019. Over the years, she’s been a steady presence in his life and career, often appearing in his social media posts. Homa has never shied away from praising her — especially after the difficult birth of their first son, Cam, which involved multiple surgeries and a long stay in the ICU.
Even this past Mother’s Day, he took to Instagram to post a heartfelt tribute: “Happy Mother’s Day @lacehoma you are truly amazing and I am impressed every day. We are so lucky to have u in our lives.”
With Austin’s arrival, Homa joins the growing club of PGA Tour dads of two — alongside names like Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas. And while he fell short of qualifying for this year’s FedExCup Playoffs, finishing 111th in the standings, his mind was elsewhere in the final stretch. “I need to win. I really need to win because my wife’s pregnant and I need to go home,” he joked to reporters during the 3M Open. “We have like two weeks left. It’s a little extra stressful, but… the only way you can win a golf tournament is by not exactly trying to win it. It’s a weird headspace.”
Homa’s next competitive stop is expected to be the Fortinet Championship in September — a tournament he knows well, having won it back-to-back in 2021 and 2022. But until then, the scoreboards can wait. Max Homa isn’t chasing birdies right now. He’s busy holding the best prize of all.
