Billy Horschel Receives Support from Tiger Woods & Rory McIlroy as He Joins TGL Leagu

 

Billy Horschel has earned the backing of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy as he becomes one of the prominent members of TGL, the new technology-driven golf league set to launch in 2025. The league, spearheaded by Woods and McIlroy, recently gave Horschel a public shoutout on their official X page, suggesting he could play a key role in upcoming TGL events.

 

Horschel is one of the headliners for TGL, representing the Atlanta Drive Golf Club (GC). He was among the early players to commit to the new venture, alongside notable names like Lucas Glover, Justin Thomas, and Patrick Cantlay. In TGL’s format, only three of the four team members compete in each matchup, meaning there will be some rotation during the season.

 

Although it’s still unclear exactly how often Horschel will play in each event, his significant role in the league has already been recognized with the shoutout from the official TGL account. The Atlanta Drive GC team, including Horschel, will play their first game on January 21, 2025, at 7:00 pm EST, facing off against the New York team, which features Matt Fitzpatrick, Xander Schauffele, Cameron Young, and Rickie Fowler.

Recently, Horschel toured the state-of-the-art TGL facilities, calling them “unreal” in his reaction to the advanced technology and innovation involved.

 

Billy Horschel’s Support for the European Tour

 

In addition to his PGA Tour career, Billy Horschel is known for his support of the DP World Tour (European Tour). He plays regularly on both the PGA and European circuits, which is less common for American players. Horschel has spoken highly of the DP World Tour, describing its flagship event, the DP World Tour Championship, as “their championship,” while noting his love for the tour and his frequent participation in it.

 

Horschel believes his experiences on the European Tour have made him both a better golfer and a better person. He cited the language barriers and the diverse cultures of international players as important factors in his growth, something he feels is less of a challenge on the predominantly American PGA Tour.
