Daniel Dubois Responds to Anthony Joshua’s Demand for Respect Ahead of World Title Clash

As the anticipation builds for the heavyweight world title fight between Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua, set to take place at Wembley Stadium on September 21, tensions have flared between the two British heavyweights. Joshua, a former champion seeking to reclaim his titles and become a three-time world champion, has called on Dubois to show him some respect. However, Dubois has fired back, challenging Joshua’s demands and his perception of respect in the boxing world.

The rivalry between Dubois and Joshua reached a fever pitch last month during a face-off event where their confrontation nearly escalated into a physical altercation. During this encounter, Joshua expressed his frustration with Dubois, suggesting that the younger fighter should exhibit more respect towards him. Joshua, who has previously held multiple heavyweight titles and is a well-known figure in the sport, seemed agitated by Dubois’s demeanor and verbal exchanges. He even threatened to strike Dubois with a chair in a show of his displeasure.

Dubois, however, was not intimidated by Joshua’s outburst. Speaking to Queensberry Promotions, Dubois dismissed Joshua’s demands for respect as irrelevant to the fight. “He was warning me, if you’re going to do something, just do it,” Dubois said. “It’s mind games and all of that trickery. I’m ready to fight, I’m sick of all these questions, I just want to get in the ring and fight.” Dubois seemed unfazed by the confrontation, indicating that such verbal exchanges hold no real significance for him.

Dubois also took issue with the notion that he is not a legitimate world champion because he did not win the title in the ring. Dubois was upgraded to full champion status after Oleksandr Usyk relinquished the belt. Prior to this promotion, Dubois had secured the interim IBF title by defeating Filip Hrgovic in June, a victory Dubois considers as his path to world champion status. “I won that in the fight, that was a world title fight and I won it,” Dubois asserted. “I’m a legitimate champion, so put some respect on my name, bro, put some respect on my name, put some respect on my name, b****.”

In contrast, Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has expressed confidence in Joshua’s preparation and mindset heading into the fight. Hearn observed that Joshua seems to be fully focused and free from the fear of losing that might have affected him in previous bouts. “The vibe I get is that the fear of losing is not really there anymore,” Hearn remarked. He attributed this shift to Joshua’s experiences with previous losses to Andy Ruiz Jr. and Oleksandr Usyk, which have presumably hardened him and diminished his fear of defeat. According to Hearn, Joshua is embracing the challenge with enthusiasm rather than trepidation.

Hearn also emphasized that Joshua is having a great training camp under the guidance of trainer Ben Davison, suggesting that Joshua is in peak form and mentally prepared for the bout. Hearn pointed out that the pressure of the fight does not seem to weigh heavily on Joshua, as he is eager to take on all challengers, particularly one with a world championship attached.

However, Hearn acknowledged that Dubois poses a significant threat, noting that this fight represents a major test for the challenger. He indicated that although Dubois has faced top-tier competition, such as Usyk, fighting at Wembley in front of a large audience could present a new set of challenges. “It’s a dangerous fight and it will be really interesting to see if Dubois can handle the pressure,” Hearn said. “You need to have not just a big set of bollocks, but also a really strong mind to compose yourself in those moments. Whatever the game plan is, I think he’ll struggle to adopt it in there.”

As the fight date approaches, both fighters are gearing up for what promises to be a high-stakes and intense clash. Joshua’s quest to regain his former glory and Dubois’s determination to prove himself as a legitimate champion will set the stage for a memorable bout at Wembley. The buildup to the fight continues to captivate boxing fans, with both fighters making their final preparations for a showdown that is sure to capture the sport’s spotlight.

Nelly Korda Accuses Lydia Ko of Cheating in Women’s Open: A Controversial Outburst

In a dramatic turn of events at the recent Women’s Open, professional golfer Nelly Korda has made headlines with explosive allegations against fellow competitor Lydia Ko. The controversy erupted during the tournament, casting a shadow over what was meant to be a showcase of athletic excellence.

Korda, known for her impressive career and competitive spirit, voiced her frustration and anger in a heated exchange with media representatives. She accused Ko of engaging in dishonest practices that, according to Korda, compromised the integrity of the game. The accusations have reverberated throughout the golf community, sparking debates and discussions about the ethics of the sport.

During the post-round interview, Korda expressed her dissatisfaction with Ko’s method of play, using strong and derogatory language to describe her concerns. “It’s frustrating to see someone manipulate the rules in such a blatant way,” Korda said. “It undermines the spirit of the game and the hard work of all the players who compete fairly.” Her comments were directed at what she perceived as Ko’s unfair advantages, although specific details about the alleged cheating were not disclosed.

The accusations have put a spotlight on Lydia Ko, a renowned golfer known for her skill and sportsmanship. Ko, who has been a prominent figure in women’s golf for years, has yet to respond directly to Korda’s claims. The controversy has led to widespread speculation and scrutiny from fans, analysts, and fellow players, each trying to piece together the implications of Korda’s statements.

In response to the outburst, the Women’s Open organizers have emphasized their commitment to maintaining the integrity of the sport. They have announced that a thorough review of the allegations will be conducted to ensure that all players adhere to the established rules and standards. The governing bodies of golf have also weighed in, stressing the importance of fair play and the need for clear evidence before making any judgments.

The incident has sparked a broader conversation about the pressures faced by professional golfers and the intense scrutiny that accompanies high-stakes competitions. While some argue that Korda’s comments reflect the heightened emotions and competitive nature of the sport, others view them as an unwarranted attack that could have long-term repercussions for Ko’s reputation and career.

As the investigation continues, the focus will remain on upholding the principles of fair play and ensuring that all players are held to the same standards. The golf community awaits further developments in this unfolding drama, with many hoping for a resolution that will restore the sport’s reputation and provide clarity on the allegations.

In the meantime, the Women’s Open will proceed with heightened vigilance, as players and officials navigate the complex interplay of competition, ethics, and sportsmanship. The resolution of this controversy will likely shape the narrative of the tournament and impact the relationships within the professional golf circuit formonths to come.

Dzięki zwycięstwu Peguli, do grona amerykańskich zawodników, którzy dotarli do półfinałów tegorocznego US Open, dołączają również Emma Navarro, Frances Tiafoe i Taylor Fritz. Ten kwartet zawodników zaznaczył silną obecność Stanów Zjednoczonych w tegorocznym turnieju.

Patrząc w przyszłość, droga Peguli do finału jest teraz jaśniejsza, z potencjalnym spotkaniem z Navarro w finale, jeśli obie zawodniczki wygrają swoje mecze półfinałowe.

  • PGA Tour regular season may be over, but plenty of golf in 2024 remains; here’s full schedule

PGA Tour regular season may be over, but plenty of golf in 2024 remains; here’s full schedule

The 2024 PGA Tour regular season has concluded with Scottie Scheffler’s dominant victory at the Tour Championship. However, the golfing calendar for the remainder of the year remains rich with action across multiple tours.

While the PGA Tour’s regular season has wrapped up, the final months of 2024 will feature eight more tournaments as part of its Fall series. This series provides an opportunity for players who did not secure a spot in the top 50 of the FedEx Cup standings to compete and improve their rankings for the 2025 season. Additionally, players ranked between 51st and 60th will gain entry into the first two Signature Events of the upcoming season, which could be pivotal for those seeking to solidify their place in the sport.

In addition to the PGA Tour’s Fall series, the spotlight will be on several high-profile events across other tours. The Presidents Cup is set to make a return to Royal Montreal Golf Club, a venue that last hosted the event in 2007. The American team, led by standout players like Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, and Collin Morikawa, will face off against a formidable International team featuring Hideki Matsuyama, Sungjae Im, and Adam Scott. This competition promises to be intense, with the U.S. team seeking to maintain their dominance, as they have not been defeated by the Internationals since 1998. Jim Furyk, a former U.S. Open champion, will captain the American team, while Mike Weir, the 2003 Masters Champion from Canada, will lead the International team on home soil.

Before the Presidents Cup, golf fans will turn their attention to the Solheim Cup, which will be held two weeks earlier in Northern Virginia at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club. The European team, who narrowly defeated the Americans in Andalucía last year with the help of Carlota Ciganda, will be looking to defend their title. For Team USA, this event is particularly significant as it marks Lexi Thompson’s final appearance in the Solheim Cup before she retires from full-time play at the end of the season.

  • Scottie Scheffler’s caddy Ted Scott has perfect response to internet troll who called his job ‘easy’

Scottie Scheffler’s caddy Ted Scott has perfect response to internet troll who called his job ‘easy’

Scottie Scheffler has established a pivotal partnership with his caddie, Ted Scott, which has emerged as one of the most successful caddie-golfer duos on the PGA Tour this year. Their collaboration has garnered significant attention, not only for its success but also for highlighting the vital role a top-tier caddie plays in the game of golf. Despite this, the profession of caddying is sometimes underestimated, as evidenced by a recent social media exchange.

The controversy began when Kip Henly, a seasoned caddie on the PGA Tour, made a humorous post on Twitter. Henly joked, “I will pay @jtedscott 1.5 million dollars to let me caddie for him next year. That’s risky but I think it’s a solid plan. Teddy Boy can sit on the couch and not have to worry about stepping in a hole and spranging [sic] an ankle. That’s fair.” This light-hearted comment pointed to the perception that caddying might be an easier job compared to the high stakes of professional golfing.

Scheffler’s impressive earnings this season—over $62 million in winnings—suggest that Scott’s compensation, likely in the ballpark of at least $5 million, is well-deserved. Nonetheless, there are critics who dismiss the significance of caddies. One such critic expressed this view bluntly on social media: “’Caddie’ is the most overrated ‘job’ in history. There are literally 10 million people in the US that could do Ted’s job.” This comment reflected a common misconception that caddying is an insignificant role that anyone could fulfill.

Ted Scott decided to address this criticism directly. He quote-tweeted the disparaging remark and responded with a sharp retort. “Wrong [thinking face emoji] Not everyone would want to spend time with you because you’re negative and tweet mean stuff. So that leaves 9,999,999 people that could do my ‘job,’” Scott’s response read. His reply underscored the importance of attitude and the specialized skill set that top caddies bring to their profession.

Scottie Scheffler himself has been vocal about the indispensable role that Ted Scott plays in his career. Scheffler has consistently acknowledged how Scott’s expertise, experience, and support are crucial to his on-course performance and overall success. Scott’s contribution is not limited to carrying clubs; his deep understanding of the game, strategic insight, and emotional support are integral to Scheffler’s achievements.

Ted Scott’s credentials further illustrate his exceptional capabilities as a caddie. Before partnering with Scheffler, Scott was the caddie for Bubba Watson, helping Watson secure two Masters titles. Scott’s proven track record of guiding golfers to victory speaks volumes about his skill and dedication to the profession. His ability to assist Scheffler in winning two Green Jackets further solidifies his reputation as one of the best caddies in the business.

In essence, the exchange highlights a broader issue: the underappreciation of caddies and their role in the sport. While the job might seem straightforward from the outside, it requires a unique set of skills, patience, and a deep understanding of the game. As demonstrated by Scott and Scheffler’s partnership, a great caddie is not just a supporter but a vital component of a golfer’s success.

Keegan Bradley posts three-word message after being named on the USA Presidents Cup team

Keegan Bradley will be part of the United States team for the Presidents Cup, which is set to take place at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Montreal, beginning September 24. Jim Furyk, the Ryder Cup captain, recently made the announcement on social media, revealing his decision to include Bradley, along with five other players: Brian Harman, Russell Henley, Max Homa, Tony Finau, and Sam Burns. This group of six will join the automatically qualified players for the event.

Bradley, who has had a notable year, recently secured a victory at the BMW Championship held at Castle Pines, which was a significant highlight in his 2024 season. Following his selection, Bradley took to social media platform X, posting a brief but enthusiastic message. His post, which included a video of the American team in preparation, simply read: “Let’s go Fellas.” This message underscored Bradley’s excitement and readiness to compete in the upcoming tournament.

Bradley’s inclusion on the Presidents Cup team carries a special significance, particularly given that he narrowly missed out on the Ryder Cup in Rome last year. His selection this time around is seen as a redemption of sorts and adds a layer of personal achievement to his career.

However, Bradley’s selection comes with its own set of challenges and heightened expectations. As the Ryder Cup captain, Furyk’s decision to pick Bradley, despite some suggestions that he should be omitted, places additional scrutiny on the 38-year-old golfer. There is a unique pressure associated with representing one’s country on such a prestigious stage, and Bradley will undoubtedly feel this weight as he competes in Montreal.

The year 2024 has been a mixed one for Bradley. While his win at the BMW Championship was a significant high point, it is worth noting that his overall performance this season has been somewhat inconsistent. Critics have suggested that his success at the high-altitude venue in Denver may have been a fleeting occurrence rather than a sign of sustained form. His performance at the Tour Championship, which was more in line with his general results this season, reinforces this view.

As Bradley heads into the Presidents Cup, the success of this pick will be closely watched. If Bradley’s performance does not meet expectations, it could lead to criticism, reflecting the pressures and high stakes inherent in international golf competitions. Only time will tell if his selection will prove to be a strategic masterstroke or a misjudgment, but for now, Bradley’s focus will be on making a significant impact in Montreal and contributing to the success of the American team.

How the FedExCup and Olympic Gold define a season for the ages — Scottie Scheffler

Scottie Scheffler Reflects on a Monumental Season After Capturing the FedExCup

The culmination of an extraordinary year in golf was marked by Scottie Scheffler’s historic victory at the TOUR Championship, where he lifted the FedExCup for the first time. This crowning achievement, coming on the heels of seven wins throughout 2024, including a gold medal at the Paris Olympic Games, represents the pinnacle of Scheffler’s impressive season. In this blog post, Scheffler takes us through the emotions, challenges, and triumphs of his remarkable journey, from the pressures of leading in a major tournament to the pivotal role of his caddie.

Reflecting on the past week, Scheffler admits that the experience has been both exhilarating and exhausting. “It’s a lot of fun,” he shares. “We’ve put in a lot of work to get to this point, and it’s been a long week. Right now, I’m just pretty tired, so I don’t really know how to put this into words. It’s a pretty special feeling to finally be holding this trophy.”

Maintaining focus throughout the tournament was a significant accomplishment for Scheffler. “All week, I tried my best to stay in the present, and I did a good job of that,” he explains. “I think I handled it much better mentally.” Holding a substantial lead, particularly a seven-shot advantage after the first round, added to the unique nature of the event. “It’s unusual playing several rounds with a lead,” Scheffler notes. “It’s a different feeling, and I feel like this tournament lasts longer than other tournaments.”

Looking back on the season, Scheffler reflects on the personal growth he’s experienced. “When I look back now, I feel like I’ve lived almost a full lifetime in this one year,” he says. “I think it just always comes back to my faith, and I think that’s what keeps me grounded and keeps me in the right frame of mind.” His consistency throughout the year, including leading the FedExCup points list for an extended period, made the final victory particularly gratifying. “I’ve been leading the FedExCup points list for a long time, and to come in here with a little lead and be able to finish it off the right way is nice.”

The challenges of past years, particularly the disappointment of not converting leads into victories, were not lost on Scheffler. “Two years ago, it was pretty tough to have a good lead into the last round and then not play my best and end up losing,” he recalls. “Last year, I had an off week, and it was disappointing, too.” This year, however, proved different. “So to come in with a lead for the third time and be able to finish it off is definitely pretty sweet.”

Being named Player of the Year on the PGA TOUR for the last two seasons without capturing the FedExCup left a lingering sense of dissatisfaction. “It leaves a bad taste in your mouth at the end of the year, especially when you’re starting the tournament ahead of people,” Scheffler admits. He recognizes that in previous years, he might have placed too much pressure on himself. “Maybe the last couple of years, I’ve put too much pressure on myself to perform or whatever it is,” he reflects. “But this year, I did a good job of just staying in it mentally and keeping my head down. I had a really good week and was able to finish it off the right way.”

The final round presented its own set of challenges. “I got off to a good start in the final round, and then I obviously had the two holes on 7 and 8 where I made bogeys,” Scheffler recounts. “Teddy [Ted Scott, his caddie] did a good job of keeping me focused.” A crucial moment came when Scheffler made a birdie on the 9th hole, shifting the momentum in his favor. “I was able to hit a nice shot into 9 for birdie, and it really changed the momentum,” he notes.

Scheffler credits much of his success to his caddie, Ted Scott. “Teddy gives me good speeches all the time. That is why he’s such a good caddie,” Scheffler says. “I don’t think a day goes by that he is not giving me some decent advice or giving me a good laugh when I need it.” Scott’s timely pep talks and ability to provide the right words of encouragement have been invaluable. “He gave me a nice pep talk on the back of 8 green because I kind of looked at him like, man, I don’t know about this; this isn’t looking so hot right now,” Scheffler explains. “I was then able to hit a nice iron shot in there and got things rolling. It really changed the momentum of the round.”

Reflecting on the broader scope of his achievements, Scheffler expresses pride in his results for the year. “Overall, it’s been a great year,” he says. “I’m proud of the results. It’s something I try not to focus too much on, but at the end of the day, being able to win tournaments is a great feeling, and it’s what we work towards. To be able to have as many wins as I have this year is really special.”

Looking ahead, Scheffler is eager to enjoy a short break before shifting his focus to the Presidents Cup. “I’m looking forward to going home and getting rest for a week or so before I start prepping for the Presidents Cup because that’s a tournament that I really want us to go out there and win at Royal Montreal,” he says. “It’s been a very eventful year, and it’s been really fun.”

As Scottie Scheffler reflects on his extraordinary season, it’s clear that his dedication, mental fortitude, and strong support system have played crucial roles in his success. The 2024 season stands as a testament to his hard work and resilience, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting continuation of his golfing career.
