At the 2024 Wyndham Championship, the PGA Tour’s regular-season finale, the emphasis was not on the prize money but on securing FedEx Cup points. This tournament, being the last of 36 events in the PGA Tour’s regular season, was crucial for players aiming to break into the top 70 of the FedEx Cup standings to qualify for the Tour’s postseason.

Consequently, tour officials had to compress the 72-hole tournament into just three days of play.

 

Despite the challenging conditions, the tournament proceeded, culminating in Aaron Rai clinching the victory in the twilight hours on Sunday. Matt Kuchar, who was in the final pairing, had to return on Monday morning to complete his round but could not surpass Rai’s lead. Notably, no player managed to advance into the top 70 of the FedEx Cup standings, with Victor Perez maintaining the 70th position he held as of Thursday.
