Rory McIlroy admits he has ‘no idea what’s going on’ in blunt PGA Tour & LIV Golf reply

Rory McIlory has been apart of the sub transaction committee with the PGA Tour in their talks with LIV Golf and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) ahead of their merger, but he has now stated that he does not know where the two parties are in communications.

The Tour has now been in in negotiations with the PIF for around 14 months, after it was announced that the two rival sides had reached an agreement to merge the two and put an end to the rivalry of the two organisations.

While many PGA Tour players, including McIlroy, were angered by the news of the merger, which seemingly came out of nowhere and had been quickly announced – some of the tour’s biggest-named golfers became involved in the conversations while being a part of a committee in the hopes to end the fallout between the PGA and LIV.

But over the last two months, talks have gone quiet with little being updated by either significant parties involved – with McIlroy now suggesting he has now involvement whatsoever.

Speaking at the Olympics when asked on the latest, McIlroy simply replied by stating: “I have no idea what’s going on. I’m blissfully unaware.”

McIlroy had initially been one of LIV Golf’s biggest critics, and had wanted nothing to do with the breakaway league before then agreeing to join a committee alongside PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan in a bid to complete th

e merger.
