The Open Championship has come to a close, crowning Xander Schauffele as the Champion Golfer of the Year. But did he make it onto the best or worst-dressed list? Regardless of the conditions, many players showcased some fantastic outfits, while others missed the mark.
As we did after Friday’s round, we’ve compiled a list of the three best and three worst-dressed players for The Open. Remember, golf fashion is subjective; what some love, others might hate. These selections were hand-picked by me, the Playing Through golf fashion expert, and the ratings reflect the overall week, not just the highlighted outfit.
Best-Dressed Players at The Open Championship
3. Daniel Brown
Daniel Brown was the Cinderella story of the 152nd Open Championship, and his fashion sense kept him in the spotlight. His Friday outfit, featuring a puffy vest that mixed textures appealingly, was memorable. Although his final round attire felt dull, it was still fashionable, maintaining his place on this list.

2. Justin Rose
Justin Rose takes the second spot on our best-dressed list. He consistently brought style each day, but his burgundy pullover on Sunday solidified his ranking. While I wish the pullover had been knit instead of performance fabric, his Nike shoes added a trendy touch to his classic style.

1. Billy Horschel
Billy Horschel might have been the runner-up on the leaderboard, but he’s number one in style. His Sunday look, featuring a perfectly tailored RLX cardigan paired with dark navy pants and a striped polo, was top-rated. The stripe polo added texture, and the white shoes and navy hat tied the look together seamlessly. Horschel’s rain gear on Saturday was also a highlight, showing he can pull off a backward hat look while maintaining coolness.

Worst-Dressed Players at The Open Championship
3. Xander Schauffele
Despite winning the tournament, Xander Schauffele’s fashion was underwhelming. His all-black look, while not terrible, could have fitted better, and the white stripes on his shoes were distracting. Schauffele isn’t known for his fashion, but light blue or green would enhance his look more than the neutrals he usually wears.

2. Thriston Lawrence
Thriston Lawrence made some odd fashion choices. His Sunday outfit could have made the best-dressed list if paired with navy pants instead of gray. The purple and gray clashed, washing out the pullover. The light gray PING hat was also a misstep; a navy or black hat would have been better.

1. Robert MacIntyre
Robert MacIntyre tops the worst-dressed list. His fits on Thursday and Friday were already questionable, but Saturday’s feather pattern was the worst. Thankfully, his neutral gray and black outfit on Friday was a brief improvement. Nike’s choice of polos for MacIntyre was baffling. As a young golfer with two PGA Tour wins, he deserves better fashion choices.
