Confirmed: The latest team in Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TGL….
The latest update on the roster for Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods’ Tomorrow Golf League (TGL) has been confirmed. Originally slated to kick off on January 9, 2024, at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, the indoor ‘high-tech league’ faced a setback due to damage caused by a power outage, resulting in a partial roof collapse. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Despite the delay, TGL’s inaugural matches are set to air on ESPN and ESPN+ on the first three Tuesdays of January 2025. As teams slowly fill up, only Woods’ teammates and the San Francisco-based squad are yet to be announced.
In the latest development, TGL revealed the quartet representing New York Golf Club: PGA Tour stars Cameron Young, Xander Schauffele, Matthew Fitzpatrick, and Rickie Fowler. The team is owned by American hedge-fund manager Steve Cohen, also known as the majority owner of MLB’s New York Mets. Cohen expressed his excitement, stating, “New Yorkers expect and deserve the best,” emphasizing the city’s rich sporting culture and the players’ exceptional talent and dedication.
Meanwhile, Woods will lead the team named Jupiter Links GC, but his teammates are yet to be confirmed.
McIlroy is set to play for Boston Common Golf alongside Tyrrell Hatton, Adam Scott, and Keegan Bradley. However, there’s uncertainty regarding Hatton’s continued participation, as he recently joined LIV Golf for the 2024 season. McIlroy expressed his hope that Hatton would still be part of the venture.
