Agent dumped by Tiger Woods takes brutal dig over ultimate ‘betrayal’
Former sports agent Hughes Norton has recently voiced his grievances against his former client, Tiger Woods, in a tell-all book, highlighting what he perceives as a significant betrayal. Norton, who had been Woods’ agent since the golfer’s teenage years, expressed disappointment over being dismissed during Woods’ prime years.
Tiger Woods made an indelible mark on the golfing world from a young age, rising to prominence with remarkable success. His early triumphs, including winning the Masters at just 21 years old in 1997, paved the way for lucrative sponsorship deals with Nike and Titleist, totaling around £48m ($60m).
Norton, renowned for his work with golfing legend Greg Norman, saw Woods as the next big thing in the sport. However, his association with Woods was short-lived, as the 15-time major champion severed ties with Norton a few years after striking multi-million-pound deals.
Reflecting on his experience, Norton lamented Woods’ apparent lack of social skills when it came to dealing with personal matters, contrasting it with the golfer’s prowess on the course. Norton described the situation as “maddening,” emphasizing Woods’ proficiency in confrontational scenarios during gameplay but a stark contrast in handling personal relationships.
Norton’s candid remarks shed light on the complexities of Woods’ persona, revealing a side of the golfing superstar that extends beyond his athletic achievements.
