During her father’s induction ceremony into the World Golf Hall of Fame in Florida, 14-year-old Sam Woods paid tribute to Tiger Woods’ resilience following a traumatic car accident that left him hospitalized for months.
Reflecting on the ordeal, Sam recounted the fear and uncertainty her family faced as they awaited Tiger’s return from the hospital, unsure if he would emerge with both legs intact. She described the accident as one of her father’s “ultimate lows.”
“We didn’t know if you’d come home with two legs or not,” Sam candidly admitted. “Now, you’re not only about to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, but you’re standing here on your own two feet. This is why you deserve this.”
Sam praised her father’s fighting spirit, acknowledging his ability to overcome adversity time and time again. She highlighted Tiger’s resilience and his ability to defy the odds.
In February 2021, Tiger Woods suffered significant orthopedic injuries to his right leg in a car crash on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes in Southern California. The accident, attributed primarily to speed by Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva, resulted in fractures to Woods’ tibia and fibula bones. Despite the severity of the crash, there were no signs of impairment, and Woods received no citations.
