Djokovic ends partnership with with coach ivanisevic : who’s next
Novak Djokovic, the current World No. 1 in tennis, has parted ways with his coach Goran Ivanisevic just before the clay season picks up momentum, as announced by Djokovic himself on Wednesday.
Ivanisevic, a former Wimbledon singles champion in 2001 and a runner-up in 1992, 1994, and 1998, joined Djokovic’s coaching team back in 2019. During their partnership, Djokovic clinched nine Grand Slam titles.
In an Instagram post featuring a snapshot of them playing a board game, Djokovic stated, “Goran and I decided to stop working together a few days ago. Our on-court chemistry had its highs and lows, but our friendship remained solid. Besides our victories on the court, we also engaged in a longstanding battle of Parchisi… which never really ended. Thanks for everything, my friend. Love you.”
Djokovic’s quest for a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam singles title was halted by Jannik Sinner in the Australian Open semi-finals earlier this year.
In light of his recent loss at Indian Wells and to manage his schedule, Djokovic withdrew from the ongoing Miami Open. He is now preparing for the upcoming clay season, eyeing a fourth French Open title, scheduled from May 26 to June 9.
