Rachel Uchitel, known for her involvement in the infamous affair with golf legend Tiger Woods 16 years ago, opened up about how the scandal continues to affect her life. In 2008, Uchitel crossed paths with Woods in Las Vegas, introduced by mutual friend and baseball star Derek Jeter. At the time, Woods was married to Swedish model Elin Nordegren. However, their encounter sparked an affair, which was later exposed in 2009 when Uchitel was photographed checking into Woods’ hotel room during the Australian Masters.

 

The revelation of Woods’ infidelity shook the world, with media uncovering his struggles with sex addiction and numerous extramarital affairs, totaling over 120 women. Despite being just one of many, Uchitel found herself thrust into the spotlight, enduring ongoing scrutiny and judgment.

 

Reflecting on the enduring impact of the scandal, Uchitel confessed to feeling its effects on her relationships and personal life. “When you are in a conversation piece that big that everyone wants to talk about, it’s going to go to your grave,” she told Daily Mail. “It affected my relationships, I have a very small world, I keep it that way.”

 

Before her involvement with Woods, Uchitel had faced significant losses, including the death of her father to a drug overdose when she was 15 and the loss of her fiancé in the 9/11 tragedy. Despite her past, Uchitel remains hopeful for love and connection. “There is nothing ordinary about me, so I have to date extraordinary men,” she expressed to The Sun. “I want to have a witness to my life. I want to be married. I want to be in a relationship. I’m always hopeful that I will, every morning when I get up. I’m like, I’ll meet him today.”

 

In her quest to empower those who feel misunderstood, Uchitel launched the “Miss Understood” podcast, providing a platform for individuals to share their stories.

 

Following the scandal, Woods and Nordegren parted ways in a $100 million divorce settlement, co-parenting their two children. Woods subsequently dated several women, including skier Lindsey Vonn, stylist Kristin Smith, and restauranteur Erica Herman.

 

Currently, Woods is competing at the 2024 Masters in Georgia, where he recently posted the worst score of his professional career at 82.
