Jake Paul has hinted at a potential showdown with reigning heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois, following his win over Mike Tyson over the weekend. The YouTuber-turned-boxer, who has frequently been criticized for taking on aging or out-of-prime fighters, may be poised to silence his critics by stepping into the ring with a legitimate heavyweight contender.

 

Dubois, who claimed the IBF world heavyweight title two months ago after knocking out Anthony Joshua, wasted no time calling out Paul. Following Paul’s victory over Tyson, Dubois issued a challenge via social media, asking, “Hi Jake. Good business on the weekend, but how would you feel about fighting for the legitimate heavyweight championship of the world? This is Daniel Dubois calling you out. Let’s get it on.”

 

Paul quickly responded, posting a picture of a tape measure with the caption, “Get in line.” He also took a swipe at Dubois’ career, writing, “Man’s been boxing for 12 years, has over 100 fights between amateur and pro, and fought on my undercard… hahaha.” Despite the jab, Paul seemed intrigued by the idea of facing Dubois, adding, “But f— it… I’m going to have Nakisa talk to Frank Warren and get you in line for the throne. Unlike Artur, at least you have a few thousand fans.”

 

Paul’s response comes as no surprise given the growing list of opponents calling him out after his win over Tyson. Alongside Dubois, Artur Beterbiev also made headlines this week by challenging Paul on social media. Former boxing champions Carl Froch and Tony Bellew have also expressed interest in fighting the YouTuber, though Paul has yet to announce his next opponent.

In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Paul reflected on his journey to boxing stardom, saying, “I’m going to become a world champion, and these fights are all just stepping stones to get there. I’m slowly improving. I’ve sparred against world champions and done phenomenal against them, so who knows what could happen in two or three years when I’m in my athletic prime?”
