Jason Day is setting his sights on more major championship success, targeting a second major title in 2025, nearly a decade after winning his first at the PGA Championship in 2015. The former world No. 1, who dominated the PGA Tour in 2015 and 2016 with seven wins in just 17 starts, has faced a series of setbacks, primarily due to chronic back injuries. Despite early predictions that Day could be the next Tiger Woods, his journey since his breakthrough major victory at Whistling Straits has been marked by challenges, including struggles in golf’s biggest events.

However, the 37-year-old Australian has enjoyed a resurgence in 2023, spurred on by swing adjustments designed to ease the strain on his lower back. The result has been a return to form, including his 13th PGA Tour victory and a tie for second at the 2023 Open Championship at Royal Liverpool. This year, Day has posted four top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour and feels confident heading into the Australian PGA Championship in Brisbane.

Speaking at Royal Queensland ahead of the event, Day reflected on his goals for the future: “I feel good about my game. A goal for 2025 is to win another major, and I also want to secure a victory in an elevated PGA Tour event.” Day’s ambition remains high, with a clear focus on the majors. “The goal has always been to win all four majors,” he said. “I know I have the game to win them, but it all starts with staying healthy and having the right swing technique to support that.”

Day has always considered his short game, especially his putting, one of his strengths, and is confident in his ability to perform when his ball striking is on point. “When I’m on my game, I’m the best putter in the world,” he said. “My short game is great, and I just need my ball striking to match that. If I can do that, I truly believe I can win more majors than just my first one.”

This week, Day will tee off alongside fellow Australian stars Cameron Smith and Min Woo Lee at the Australian PGA Championship, a tournament co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour.
