Tennis legend Rafael Nadal is gearing up for his much-anticipated return to the court at the inaugural ‘Six Kings Slam’ exhibition in Saudi Arabia, taking place from October 16-19. This marks Nadal’s first appearance since the 2024 Paris Olympics, where the 38-year-old Spaniard battled but ultimately fell short in both singles and doubles.

 

Nadal, who has endured a series of injury setbacks in recent years, initially planned to make a full return earlier in the season at Brisbane. Unfortunately, injuries derailed those ambitions, forcing him out until the European clay swing—a surface on which he built his reputation as the ‘King of Clay.’ However, Nadal’s comeback on the clay courts did not go as planned. Despite his 14 French Open titles, he failed to reach a single quarterfinal during the season and suffered a shocking first-round defeat to Alexander Zverev at Roland Garros.

 

Undeterred, Nadal pushed on to the 2024 Paris Olympics, reaching the final of Bastad before competing in the prestigious event. That moment has now arrived, as he is set to headline the star-studded ‘Six Kings Slam’ in Saudi Arabia, which will feature top talents like Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev, and Holger Rune.

 

Nadal recently took to Instagram to share the news of his return to practice, posting a video from the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca where he can be seen blasting his signature forehands. The excitement is building, as the Spaniard prepares to join Djokovic in receiving a bye straight into the semifinals of the exhibition. Meanwhile, Alcaraz will face Rune, with the winner advancing to a semifinal clash with Nadal, while Sinner and Medvedev will vie for a shot at Djokovic.

 

The highly anticipated semifinals will take place on October 17, setting the stage for a showdown between some of the sport’s biggest names, including Nadal with his 22 Grand Slam titles and Djokovic with 24. Following a rest day, the final of the ‘Six Kings Slam’ will be held on October 19, promising an epic conclusion to the event.

 

Nadal’s journey won’t end there, as he is also set to join Team Spain for the Davis Cup Finals 2024. Under the leadership of captain David Ferrer, Nadal will team up with Alcaraz, Marcel Granollers, Roberto Bautista Agut, and Pablo Carreno Busta. Spain’s first challenge will come in the quarterfinals against the Netherlands on November 19.
