A double bogey on the 18th hole, his 16th of the day, briefly set him back to two-under-par. Nevertheless, Rahm finished strong with a par and a birdie, concluding the day with a commendable three-under 69. This performance placed him in a tie for 15th, just four strokes behind leaders Martin Kaymer, Adrian Meronk, and Caleb Surratt.

Road to the US Open

This appearance at LIV Golf Houston marked Rahm’s first start since missing the cut at the PGA Championship in May. Despite that setback, Rahm has maintained an impressive record, being the only player on the LIV Golf roster to finish inside the top 10 at all seven events in 2024.

Looking Ahead

With Rahm sitting at 15th after the first day, sharing the spot with 10 others, the coming weeks promise to be busy for many on the LIV Golf circuit. A total of 12 LIV players are set to compete at Pinehurst No.2 next week for the US Open. Rahm, who became the first Spaniard to win the event in 2021, will then proceed to LIV Golf Nashville the week following the US Open, and later feature at LIV Golf Andalucía in his home country of Spain, at Valderrama.
