Scottie Scheffler joined the ranks of golfing legends like Tiger Woods after his triumph at the Travelers Championship on Sunday. According to ESPN, Scheffler’s victory, marking his sixth win of the season, ties him with Woods for the most wins in a single season by a player ranked No. 1 in the world rankings, a record Woods set in 2009.

 

In a thrilling finish, Scheffler shot a final-round 65, culminating in a birdie spree on three consecutive holes on the back-nine to force a tie for first. He ultimately secured his victory over Tom Kim in a one-hole playoff, finishing the tournament at 22-under par.

 

Scheffler has maintained his position as the World No. 1 golfer for an impressive 57 consecutive weeks, starting from May 22, 2023. As a two-time major champion, he now sets his sights on capturing a third major title next month.

 

The golfing world will be watching closely as Scheffler competes in the 152nd Open at Royal Troon, which begins on July 18.
