Camila Giorgi, the renowned Italian tennis star, has emerged with a surprising update following her discreet retirement from professional tennis earlier this year.

 

At 32, Giorgi decided to step away from the tennis world, redirecting her focus towards a flourishing career in lingerie modeling and fashion design. Over her career, she amassed approximately £5 million in prize money. Her last professional match was a straight-sets defeat to World No. 1 Iga Swiatek during the second round of the Miami Open in March.

Only after widespread speculation did Giorgi confirm her retirement, addressing rumors that she had left Italy for the USA due to tax issues. Her legal team clarified that her decision to retire was unrelated to these alleged problems, asserting that she had already planned her departure from the sport.

 

In an unexpected twist, Italian newspapers La Repubblica and Corriere della Sera reported accusations against Giorgi, alleging she stole valuable items, including plush rugs and antique tables, from a villa she was renting with her family. Giorgi’s legal team responded, stating her move from the villa was temporary due to a “divergence of views within the family,” and emphasized that she had “no intention of evading investigations or responsibilities.”

 

Shortly after these allegations surfaced, Giorgi addressed her Instagram followers, who number over 740,000, saying, “There have been many inaccurate rumors about my future plans, so I hope to provide more information about the interesting opportunities I will have in the future.”

 

Throughout her 14-year career, Giorgi’s most notable achievement was reaching the quarter-finals at Wimbledon in 2018. Despite her talent, she never progressed beyond the fourth round in any other major tournament.
