Tiger Woods is making a determined effort to stage a comeback at the upcoming Masters tournament in Augusta.
Having been sidelined since February due to illness, the former world No.1 is striving to overcome his health challenges and return to competitive play. Despite rumors suggesting he may retire, Woods is focused on vying for his sixth Green Jacket at the prestigious event.
In preparation for his potential comeback, Woods is reportedly adopting a strict regimen, including intense gym sessions and a disciplined diet. Additionally, he has imposed a self-imposed ban on sexual activity to conserve energy and maintain his focus on the tournament.
A close friend revealed to the New York Post, “He’s working really hard in the gym. He’s eating right. He’s even eliminated sex. He does that now when he’s preparing: no sex until the tournament is over. He doesn’t want anything to take away his focus.”
Despite his dedication, doubts persist about Woods’ ability to replicate his past successes, especially given his recent physical setbacks. Reports indicate he is experiencing limited mobility in his left ankle and ongoing challenges with his lower back.
Commenting on Woods’ condition, NBC commentator and former PGA Tour pro Notah Begay III remarked, “He’s got zero mobility in that left ankle and really has low-back challenges now, which he knew he was going to have.”
While Woods has been able to complete a practice round in Augusta, concerns remain about his ability to endure the full tournament. The question of whether he can physically recover between rounds remains unanswered.
As Begay stated, “For the past couple of months, he’s been trying to find a way to recover… That’s still up in the air. But can he recover, from one round to the next? That’s the biggest question.”
Despite the challenges ahead, Woods is determined to give his best effort at the Masters, a tournament that holds special significance for him each year.
