Tiger Woods’ Former Coach Applauds Anthony Kim’s Golf Swing as He Works on His Game

Anthony Kim, who made a comeback to professional golf in 2024, has been working on his swing during the LIV Golf off-season. Tiger Woods’ former coach, Hank Haney, has praised Kim’s efforts, sharing several videos of the golfer’s swing on social media. Haney expressed his approval, saying, “This is a great golf swing, keep it up Anthony Kim.”

 

Kim, who had been absent from the sport for over a decade, disappeared from the PGA Tour after the 2012 Wells Fargo Championship, citing an undisclosed injury. There were rumors that Kim had collected insurance money from the PGA Tour, which prevented him from returning to play. However, in 2024, Kim resurfaced with a contract on LIV Golf after discussions with LIV CEO Greg Norman.

 

Although Kim was reportedly considering a return to either the PGA Tour or LIV, he ultimately chose LIV, though his 2024 season was less than stellar. Kim finished 56th out of 57 players on the LIV circuit. Nevertheless, he’s using the off-season to focus on his game, and Haney’s feedback suggests his swing is progressing well.

Anthony Kim’s return to professional golf has been one of the sport’s great mysteries. After vanishing from the PGA Tour in 2012, his return has captured attention, though some aspects of his absence remain unclear. Much of Kim’s decision to join LIV Golf came down to the support he felt from the organization. In an interview with Mirror, Kim shared how Greg Norman’s approach made him feel welcomed, especially in terms of being able to prioritize family and avoid the isolation he felt during his previous time on tour.

 

Kim explained, “When Greg and I spoke before I made the decision to come to LIV, he talked about how he wanted me to be around my family and feel supported.” He continued, “It’s not like I’m saying everyone on this tour is best friends, but there’s definitely a lot of support here. My family has been treated world-class by everyone, from Jane and the media team to Greg and Jed. It’s been amazing.”

 

The LIV golfer also praised the tour’s ease of travel, noting how much more convenient it is compared to his past experiences.

Despite his decision to join LIV, Anthony Kim’s future with the tour remains uncertain. His lackluster performance in 2024—finishing near the bottom of the rankings—means that while he remains exempt from relegation for now, he will need to improve his standing in future seasons to avoid being demoted.
