Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy got frustrated…………… 😱😱😱😱 Reason below
Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s highly anticipated golf venture, the TGL (Team Golf League), faced a significant setback when the SoFi Center’s roof collapsed in November last year, delaying its launch. However, the league has now announced its inaugural event, scheduled for January 2025, a year after its original planned start date.
TGL, spearheaded by Woods and McIlroy, promises a unique experience for fans, with PGA Tour stars competing within a cutting-edge stadium setting across six teams. Initially slated for an earlier launch, the league’s plans were derailed by the unforeseen structural damage to the Palm Beach-based SoFi Center.
Despite this setback, there’s good news on the horizon for TGL enthusiasts, with confirmation of the league’s official commencement in January 2025. Events will be held on Tuesdays throughout the year, beginning on January 7th. Mike McCarley, co-founder of TGL alongside Woods and McIlroy, expressed optimism about the launch, highlighting January’s significance as a prime time for sports fans and the strategic alignment with ESPN’s coverage of the NFL and college football playoffs.
With construction ongoing at the SoFi Center, TGL is gearing up to introduce fans to its innovative approach to team golf. The league’s vision, in collaboration with partner SoFi, aims to leverage technology to revolutionize traditional sports institutions.
The roster boasts a lineup of 24 players across the six franchises, featuring top names like Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, and Billy Horschel, alongside Woods and McIlroy themselves. However, TGL is still in search of two players to complete its roster after Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton opted to join LIV Golf.
Rahm’s departure came after securing a reported £450 million deal with Greg Norman’s LIV Golf in December, followed by Hatton’s last-minute switch to the Saudi-backed venture in February. Despite these challenges, TGL remains committed to delivering an exciting and groundbreaking experience for fans, as they eagerly anticipate the league’s debut in January 2025.
