The full roster for Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TGL is now complete.
Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy Announce Tyrrell Hatton’s TGL Replacement
The highly anticipated Tomorrow Golf League (TGL), co-founded by golf legends Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, has finalized its star-studded roster. With just seven months until its first broadcast on ESPN, the league has confirmed that former Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama will join McIlroy’s team, Boston Common Golf.
Masters Champion Joins TGL
Hideki Matsuyama, the 32-year-old Japanese golf sensation and a nine-time PGA Tour winner, will replace Tyrrell Hatton on Boston Common Golf. Hatton departed for LIV Golf, securing a lucrative £50m ($63m) deal. Matsuyama, who captured the 2021 Masters title and recently triumphed at this year’s Genesis Invitational, will join forces with Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott, and Keegan Bradley.
Jon Rahm’s Surprise Move
The TGL roster saw another significant change when Spanish star Jon Rahm exited to join the Saudi-backed LIV Golf for a staggering half a billion dollars. Rahm, who initially cited commitment issues, was replaced by Sweden’s promising talent Ludvig Aberg. This move underscores the dynamic and competitive nature of modern professional golf.
Launching the Future of Golf
Owned by TMRW Sports Group, TGL aims to revolutionize the sport with its tech-fused approach. The league will debut on January 7th at the state-of-the-art SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Despite a delay due to a power outage that caused the collapse of the facility’s air-supported dome, the inaugural season promises excitement and innovation.
