Small Business Owner Takes Tiger Woods……
Small Business Owner Takes Tiger Woods’ Cease and Desist Letter as a Compliment
Matthew Wharton, a 50-year-old small business owner from Anglesey, North Wales, has found himself in the spotlight after receiving a cease and desist letter from Tiger Woods’ attorneys regarding the name of his new play-and-party golf course. Wharton’s venture, initially named ‘PuttStroke,’ drew attention due to its similarity to Woods’ PopStroke, a chain of golf entertainment venues across the U.S.
In a previous interview with NorthWalesLive, Wharton jokingly mentioned the possibility of Woods taking notice of his project. However, he was surprised by the swift response from Woods’ legal team. Despite the unexpected turn of events, Wharton sees the legal action as somewhat flattering, interpreting it as a sign that Woods may perceive his business as potential competition.
Expressing his amusement at the situation, Wharton has agreed to comply with the request to change the name of his establishment. He expressed gratitude for the attention his project has garnered and is now seeking suggestions from the public for a new name. Emphasizing the importance of promoting the Welsh language and culture, Wharton hopes to find a name that resonates with the local community while reflecting the spirit of his business.
Meanwhile, PopStroke Entertainment, co-owned by Greg Bartoli, Tiger Woods’ TGR Venture, and TaylorMade Golf Company, continues to expand its presence with technology-infused golf entertainment venues featuring two 18-hole putting courses designed by Woods himself, alongside a full-service restaurant and bar.
In other news, Tiger Woods recently participated in the 88th Masters, where he managed to make the cut but struggled during the weekend, ultimately finishing in last place. Undeterred by his performance, Woods remains determined to compete in all three remaining majors of 2024.
Adding to the buzz surrounding Woods, a photo circulating online captured a moment that appeared to show the legendary golfer shaking hands with a tree, further cementing his status as a social media sensation.
