Oleksandr Usyk has carved his name into the annals of boxing history for his remarkable achievements.

 

After dominating the cruiserweight division and becoming its undisputed champion, the Ukrainian southpaw ascended to the heavyweight class and repeated this impressive feat with decisive victories over Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.

 

Now, as only the second man after Evander Holyfield to hold undisputed titles in both divisions, Usyk’s legacy is assured. But which legendary fighters from past generations does he wish he could have faced?

 

In a revealing interview with Vringe, the 37-year-old icon named Joe Louis and ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson as the heavyweights he would most like to challenge.

 

“The first is Joe Louis. One of the best heavyweight champions in boxing history. For his time, very technical and with a strong impact.

 

The second is Mike Tyson. Speed, power, and unstoppable. It would be interesting to fight with such an opponent.”

 

Joe Louis, a sporting and cultural icon, dominated the 1940s boxing scene against the backdrop of World War II. He defended his heavyweight world title 25 times and amassed 66 wins from 69 bouts.

 

Tyson, known for his ferocity, explosiveness, and intimidation, retired seven years before Usyk clinched Gold at the 2012 London Olympics. His presence in the ring was unmatched, making him a unique heavyweight. If Usyk could face either legend, it would be a rare occasion where he would have the height advantage.

 

This year, Tyson makes a controversial return to the ring to face Jake Paul, while Usyk is set to rematch Fury one month later.
