In a surprising turn of events, the PGA Tour recently announced a partnership with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF), reversing its previous opposition to Middle Eastern involvement in professional golf. This announcement came from PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan, who revealed an unexpected framework agreement with PIF. Notably absent from this deal was LIV Golf’s CEO Greg Norman, leaving the future of the breakaway league uncertain.

 

However, more than a year after this groundbreaking announcement, LIV Golf has proven its staying power. The league has expanded once again, this time with a new office in London. The news was shared by LIV’s creative director Will Newell, who offered a glimpse of the new headquarters in an Instagram post. “New London office opens this week. Fit out by Echospace London,” Newell wrote, signaling a significant expansion for the controversial league.

 

This new office represents a major enhancement of LIV Golf’s presence in the UK, New York, and Florida, reflecting their ambitious plans to take the tour worldwide. The insurgent league plans to hold 14 events in eight countries, aligning with the international aspirations of LIV’s marquee player, Phil Mickelson. Mickelson recently expressed his optimistic outlook on the future of LIV Golf, stating, “I think there’s a lot of things that are going to transpire over the next five or ten years.”

 

Mickelson’s bullish stance highlights the league’s potential for growth despite the uncertainty that surrounds it. He believes that the quality of players will continue to improve each year and that the diverse locations of their events will attract both players and fans. “We’ll be going to more countries outside of the United States that really are starving for world-class professional golf,” Mickelson noted, referencing the enthusiastic reception the league received in Adelaide.

 

With the unveiling of LIV Golf’s luxurious new London base, excitement builds for their upcoming return to British greens. This year, the Saudi-backed event is set to launch at the JCB Country Club on July 26, following two successful years at Centurion Golf Club.
