Jake Paul’s promotion company, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), has issued a statement in response to recent accusations that his fight with Mike Tyson was scripted or fake. These allegations followed their headline match in Texas, where Paul defeated Tyson by unanimous decision after eight rounds. Tyson, 58, appeared out of sync during the bout, prompting some in the boxing world to suggest the fight was not legitimate.

 

Notable figures in boxing, including Hall of Famer Oscar De La Hoya, voiced skepticism about the authenticity of the fight, labeling it as “fake” or “scripted.” In response, MVP vehemently denied these claims, calling them “baseless” and aimed at undermining the event’s integrity.

 

In their official statement, MVP emphasized that rigging a professional boxing match is a federal crime in the U.S. The fight, which was sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR), was conducted with both fighters participating in good faith. According to MVP, there were no contractual restrictions imposed on either fighter, and both were free to use their full skill sets to try and win. Any deviation from this would have violated official boxing rules.

 

The statement also addressed the common practice of trash talk and wild speculation in sports, explaining that while such opinions are part of the culture, insinuating that the fight was anything less than a legitimate contest is disrespectful to the fighters and the sport. MVP stressed that suggesting otherwise is “illogical and inane” and that the partnership with a major streaming company in the event’s debut further proved the legitimacy of the match.

 

The statement also noted that Jake Paul has long faced skepticism in his boxing career, with critics questioning his success from the beginning. Despite this, Paul has continued to break records and prove his critics wrong. The fight with Tyson, which set new attendance and viewership records for a professional sports event, is yet another example of Paul’s ability to perform on the biggest stage.
