June: A Crucial Month for Charlie Woods

June might be one of the most important months for Charlie, with two major tournaments lined up back-to-back. First on the agenda is the South Florida Jr. PGA Championship at StoneBridge GC, taking place from June 19-20. Last year, Charlie tied for 33rd place with a score of 75-81. Though his school, the Benjamin School, only offers golf camps for younger students, the Jr. PGA Championship is an invitational tournament, allowing Charlie to participate despite school restrictions.

While it’s not confirmed whether Charlie has received an invitation yet, his previous performances make him a strong candidate. Following closely is the Jack Nicklaus Junior Championship from June 22-23. In last year’s event, Charlie finished tied for 20th with a score of 79-75-154. This tournament is open to players aged 11 to 18, ensuring Charlie’s eligibility.

Despite his talent, Charlie faced setbacks earlier this year in his attempts to launch his PGA Tour career. His first attempt was at the Cognizant Classic pre-qualifiers, where he carded a 16 over 86, facing criticism for his performance. His second attempt came in April at The Legacy Golf & Tennis Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida, where he finished T61 with a score of nine over 81 during the U.S. Open qualifiers.

Charlie’s summer isn’t just limited to June. After a brief break in July, he might compete at the Old Palm GC in the SFPGA Jr. Cup in August, where he previously finished 10th. August will likely see him in only this one tournament before moving on to the SFPGA Labor Day Classic in early September, where he finished T35 last year.

As the year progresses, Charlie’s schedule remains packed. In December, he’s expected to compete in the SFPGA Tour Championship at Park West Palm, where he tied for 5th place last year with a score of 69-73. This tournament is open to players aged 11 to 18, giving Charlie another opportunity to shine.
