In a classic display of sportsmanship and rivalry, Brooks Koepka couldn’t help but deliver a playful jab at his fellow golfer and recent US Open champion, Bryson DeChambeau. Bryson DeChambeau recently clinched his second US Open title after an intense showdown with Rory McIlroy. He was left out of Team USA’s squad for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. DeChambeau expressed his disappointment in an interview with ESPN, stating, “I would love to represent the United States. It was tough for me not to go last time around because of Covid, and it’s just one of those things that happened.” Despite his frustration, DeChambeau remains hopeful for the future of golf and his place in it. He added, “Hopefully one day this game of golf will get figured out and come back together, and I’ll be able to play.”
Reflecting on his current situation, DeChambeau continued, “I’m playing great golf, I’m excited. [So] yeah… am I frustrated and disappointed? Sure, you can absolutely say that. But I made the choices that I made and there’s consequences to that and I respect it.” He concluded on a hopeful note, expressing his desire for unity in the sport: “Hopefully sooner rather than later we figure that out so in this great game of golf we can get past all that and move forward into showing how awesome this sport really is around the globe.”
