Former Anthony Joshua Coach Eyes New Boxing Phenom to Emulate His Success
Renowned boxing coach Robert McCracken, known for his experience in guiding fighters to Olympic gold medals, has his sights set on adding another triumph to his collection this summer. McCracken, who has reached impressive heights in both amateur and professional boxing, is now placing his hopes on Delicious Orie, a promising talent in the super-heavyweight division.
Orie is set to carry Britain’s hopes in Paris, and McCracken has already identified striking similarities between Orie and his former protégé, Anthony Joshua. Joshua, a two-time world champion, owes much of his success to McCracken’s guidance, and the coach sees potential for a similar trajectory with Orie.
“They are different boxers and different people,” McCracken stated in an interview with Yahoo Sport. “But much like back in 2012 with Joshua, he [Orie] has lots of potential, and it will be interesting to see his journey after the Olympics as he moves forward.”
McCracken, who oversaw Joshua’s career for many years, is optimistic about Orie’s future, drawing parallels between the two athletes’ determination and talent. “Hopefully, he will do just as well as Joshua did. He [Orie] is a talented boxer, very driven and determined, and boxed tremendously well at the qualifier,” McCracken added.
With the Olympics fast approaching, all eyes will be on Delicious Orie as he strives to live up to the expectations set by his esteemed coach and the legacy of Anthony Joshua. McCracken’s endorsement and confidence in Orie signal a promising future for the young boxer, who is poised to make his mark on the international stage.
