Scottie Scheffler Laughs Off Hilarious Video of Louisville Golfer Trolling His Arrest at PGA Championship

World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler recently opened up about a humorous video circulating online. The video features an amateur golfer from Louisville, cleverly mocking Scheffler’s dramatic arrest during the PGA Championship last month.

Scheffler was arrested on four charges, including a felony, after attempting to enter Valhalla. The incident escalated when Scheffler allegedly dragged a police officer to the ground while trying to access the course. Although the charges were eventually dropped, the incident sparked widespread attention and amusement.

Earlier this week, a fan’s video emerged, showing them driving into a Louisville golf course parking lot. What caught everyone’s eye was the mannequin dressed as a police officer stuck to the side of the car, parodying Scheffler’s arrest.

“It’s kind of hard not to laugh about the guy who did that,” Scheffler remarked on Tuesday, ahead of this week’s US Open at Pinehurst. Scheffler’s fellow golfer, Xander Schauffele, brought the video to his attention, and both found it amusing.

Schauffele, who recently won the PGA Championship, disclosed that he and Scheffler share a group chat where Scheffler was good-naturedly teased by his friends following the arrest. “I think that’s part of just having good friends. If all they did was make fun of me, it would be different. It wouldn’t be as fun,” Scheffler noted.

Scheffler emphasized the importance of being able to laugh at oneself, especially when friends are involved. “I don’t love reliving it, but sometimes being able to laugh about it is a good skill, too. When they make jokes, it’s definitely hard not to laugh, especially with some of my good buddies, they’re pretty funny with it.”

Despite the turmoil of his arrest and the recent birth of his first son, Scheffler has had a stellar season, winning five times already. He admitted that balancing his professional and personal life has been challenging amidst the legal drama.

“With some of the circumstances that have been going on outside the golf courses, it’s been a bit more challenging,” Scheffler said. However, he finds solace at home with his son Bennett and wife Mere. “When I’m at home, having Bennett around, it’s almost easier to not be on my phone, not be watching TV. I just want to hang out with him and hang out with Mere, and rocking him to sleep puts me to sleep. Being at home is fun. I haven’t been bored at home in quite some time, that’s for sure.”

Scheffler’s ability to maintain his sense of humor and focus on his family has undoubtedly helped him navigate the ups and downs of his eventful year.
